Dr. Emily Brigham

Medical Advisor

Dr. Brigham received her bachelor's degree from Tufts University in Medford/Somerville, Massachusetts, on the colonized lands of the Massachusett tribe. She obtained her medical degree, internal medicine and pulmonary and critical care training from the Johns Hopkins University Medical School and a Masters in Health Sciences from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland (unceded lands of the Piscataway and Susquehannock peoples). She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (Respirology).

She is a practicing respirologist at Vancouver general Hospital and the Centre for Lung Health. A Canadian Institutes of Health Research and BC Lung Foundation research award recipient, Dr. Brigham is also funded for research through a Michael Smith Health Research BC Health Professional Investigator Award. Her research program focuses on understanding the impact of environmental smoke (with an emphasis on wildfire smoke and wood smoke) on respiratory health, identifying susceptible and vulnerable populations, and working to identify, test, and implement strategies to reduce exposure and promote lung health resiliency when exposure occurs.
