BC Lung hosts a Annual Radon Workshop every November mobilizing stakeholders and researchers on radon, the leading cause of lung cancer after smoking.

Annual Radon Workshop 2025
Radon: Collaboration for Healthy Communities
Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers in BC. While it can build up in homes and workplaces, most indoor spaces still haven’t been tested. Fortunately, BC has a thriving community of advocates, public health officials, doctors, scientists, technicians and others who are working together to make a difference. BC Lung’s Annual Radon Workshop offers an opportunity to hear about new initiatives and the latest science.

Radon Workshop 2024
Radon in a Changing Climate
Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers in BC. While it can build up in homes and workplaces, most indoor spaces still haven’t been tested. Fortunately, BC has a thriving community of advocates, public health officials, doctors, scientists, technicians and others who are working to make a difference. BC Lung’s Annual Radon Workshop offers an opportunity to hear about new initiatives and the latest science. For this year, we are lining up speakers to discuss how radon and climate change intersect– whether a warming planet increases radon levels, effects of wildfire smoke on radon exposure, and how energy efficiency initiatives need to take special precautions around radon.
