Dr. Dick Menzies received his medical training at McGill University, Montreal and specialty training in Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, USA. After a 2 ½ year stint in Lesotho, Africa, he received further training in Respiratory Medicine and a Masters degree in Epidemiology & Biostatistics at McGill University. Dr. Menzies has served as Medical Director at the Montreal Chest Institute for a total of 10 years ending in 2002, as Director of the Respiratory Epidemiology Unit at McGill University for 13 years, and as Director of the Respiratory Division for 9 years.

The Air We Share: Principles and Practices of TB Infection Control is the last of a four-part series of 1-hour webinars developed for health care providers involved in TB prevention, control, and care in British Columbia. The webinar begins with a brief review of information provided in the previous three webinars: TB epidemiology, transmission, pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment. The review is followed by a discussion of the principles of TB isolation, guidelines to help reduce the risk of transmission in hospital, clinic and community settings, and strategies for ensuring supportive and safe home isolation for clients with or suspected of having, TB. The answers to a number of frequently asked questions (FAQs) will also be presented. The webinar will conclude with a presentation on TB and smoking from the BC Lung Association.
