Recognizing lung infections

When you live with a chronic lung condition, an infection can hit like a sudden storm and can leave permanent destruction in its path. The aim is to get treatment as soon as possible and to avoid infection as much as possible.

Proactively managing and monitoring your condition includes keeping track of changes in your lung health and noting what’s normal for you with regard to sputum; use of inhalers; shortness of breath; and their frequency/causes. 

It is also important to keep a record of medication changes — date of changes, how you feel, and anything else you feel relevant.
