BC Lung Foundation’s Wonder Gala raises nearly $100,000 to support lung health initiatives!

BC Lung Foundation’s Wonder for Lung Health event was an incredible evening of impact that will help to bring cleaner air and better lung health to communities across BC. The annual fundraising gala took place on Friday, November 8th, 2024. Held at the prestigious Terminal City Club in Vancouver, the black-tie event brought together patients, supporters, and key players in the lung health community for a night of friendly competition and charitable spirit.

Over 150 guests joined in on the evening’s festivities, which included various casino games, a silent auction and live auction, and a four-course plated dinner. The event also included the presentation of two esteemed lung health awards: the Dr. Peter Paré Award of Excellence in Lung Health was presented to Dr. Anne-Marie Nicol, and the Award of Excellence in Lung Health Research was presented to Dr. Emily Brigham and Dr. Eric Coker.

Through the event, over $95,000 was raised to support BC Lung’s vital initiative “Cleaning the Air – One Community at a Time”. These funds will provide full subsidies for children to attend BC Lung’s Asthma Education Camps and will support distributing air quality monitors to communities in need across BC through Carter’s Project. “To see everyone all together, celebrating, connecting, and collaborating to make a difference in lung health in BC is truly special. We heard many stories of BC Lung’s impact, so I’m excited to continue our important work made possible through fundraising events like these,” says Christopher Lam, President & CEO of BC Lung Foundation.

Wonder Gala’s sponsors included Air Canada Foundation, Mail-O-Matic, HUB International, Atlas Driving School, Tsawwassen Mills, Trudell Health Solutions, Bluestone Government Relations, Clean Green Solutions, Dyrand Systems, JAK’s Beer Wine Spirits, and Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre.
