This past week, BC Lung travelled to Gold River on Vancouver Island to deliver free air quality monitors and facilitate DIY air cleaner workshops through Carter’s Project. This island adventure made some serious impact in a small town with the installation of 4 outdoor air quality monitors, 2 DIY workshops in the local elementary school, and 1 town hall meeting that had close to 60 attendees!
We heard lots of stories of families living with lung disease and how wildfire smoke and wood smoke has affected their lives. We are proud to offer this fully subsidized program to ensure that everyone has access to accurate air quality information and has the tools and resources to keep their lungs safe.
Special shout out to the incredible crew who made this possible including the Vigh family who joined us on the trip. Thank you to TB Vets, SFU BREATHE Project, Pioneer Home Hardware, and Ikea Coquitlam and Richmond for your support of Carter’s Project.
We are excited to continue Carter’s legacy by improving air quality monitoring as we bring Carter’s Project to other communities across British Columbia! Learn more at https://bclung.ca/lung-health/air-quality/carters-project/
