The launch of Carter’s Project, the BC Lung Foundation’s newest, most heartfelt initiative. Here, Foundation President & CEO Christopher Lam, with brave parents Amber and James Vigh, who lost their son nearly four months ago, due to an asthma attack caused by poor air quality.
The Vighs told their story at Wonder, BC Lung Foundation’s annual fundraising gala, receiving a standing ovation at the sold-out event. More than $73,000 was raised so far to provide 100 air quality monitors for 100 Mile House, where the Vighs live.
Local, real-time air quality monitoring in 100 Mile House (the closest air quality monitoring, currently, is nearly 100 km away) would likely have saved nine year old Carter’s life.
Named after their late son, Carter Vigh, Carter's Project also includes awareness programs on air quality and training for community members who will be using the monitors.
